The Nancy lee and Perry R. Bass Performance Hall has been named one of top 10 opera houses in the world. In addition to opera the 2056 seat building offers performances by the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra, Texas Ballet Theater, Van Cliburn Concerts and special Broadway presentations. Additionally, the prestigious Hall offers concerts by popular artists, from country, western and jazz to contemporary artists. Live Theatre also appeals to citizens. More than a dozen theatre groups located throughout the area offer a wide variety of presentations. A number of area dance associations present ballet and contemporary performances as well as classes offered for students.
Summer visitors will enjoy Shakespeare in the Park, presentations in a Forest Park picnic setting, along the Trinity River.
Performers like Lee Ann Rimes got their start on Johnny High’s Country Music Revue. Located in an old, restored Arlington theater Mr. High showcases a large number of revolving acts that perform on Saturday evenings. More laid back and old fashioned than neighboring Dallas, Fort Worth roots were rough and rowdy. Still proud of its western heritage, the old western town has also established newer, more upscale roots fitting today’s citizenry.
