Before the 2009 Forth Worth Stock Show and Rodeo closes its gates on Sunday, Feb. 8, there is still plenty to gander at the Stock Show grounds and the famous indoor rodeo. With a little something for everyone, the event schedule includes everything from magic shows and musical acts to petting zoos and junior steer competitions -- and the World’s Original Indoor Rodeo.
Cowboys compete in the rodeo nightly at 7:30 in grueling events like bull riding, bronc riding and steer wrestling. Plus, cowgirls race to the finish line in the thrilling barrel racing event. Each show includes the chuck wagon races, specialty entertainment and the calf scramble presented by Justin Boots and Mrs. Baird’s Bakeries.
On Military Appreciation Day, Feb. 4, all active and retired military personnel and their immediate families will receive complimentary Stock Show admission and rodeo tickets by presenting military ID at the rodeo ticket office.
General admission tickets, $8 for adults, $4 for kids 6 to 16, and free for those 5 and under, are good for all the livestock events, educational programs, commercial exhibits and the midway. The grounds at the Will Rogers Memorial Center are open daily 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. and tickets can be purchased at the box office.
The Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association bull-riding competition and rodeo is held every evening. Rodeo tickets, which range from $16 to $22, includes admission to the stock show on the day of the performance. Tickets are available at the rodeo ticket office or by calling (817) 877-2420. Tickets can also be purchased via Ticketmaster at (972) 647-5700, though a nonrefundable convenience charge is added.
